Philosophy
All children have an inherent love for music that can be developed at an early
age. Although they are too young for formal piano lessons, young children can
begin to develop musical skills and become familiar and comfortable with the
keyboard. By centering each lesson on a theme that is both developmentally
appropriate and meaningful to preschoolers, many different musical elements can
be introduced and skills practiced while the children enjoy movement, musical
instruments and play. Music can touch all children, despite varying levels of
ability. Piano Tots provides an arena for children to grow musically and
prepare for formal piano instruction, while setting the stage for a life-long
appreciation of music.

History
Piano Tots opened its doors in July 2005 – the first music program designed to
prepare preschoolers for private piano instruction. As a mother of 2 small
children, I have sampled and researched many of the programs available for the
very young, and have yet to find something quite like Piano Tots. Although I
believe that 3-year-olds are too young to begin formal training, children are
never too young to experience music and begin making music themselves. Why not
design a class that will give preschoolers a head start and excite them about
piano study? And so the concept was born and developed into the innovative new
approach called Piano Tots.
